This Friday, November 22nd marks the beginning of the 1st Annual Next Step Studio Campference!
This special residential program will be held at our office in Cambridge, Massachusetts and encompass everything that Song Studio, Next Step’s music therapy program, is and means for our young participants. NOT ONLY is this the first Studio Campference in Next Step’s history, it will also be the first time that we bring young people from our three communities (living with cancer, HIV, and rare genetic disorders) together at the same Next Step Campference! We are so happy to share this amazing moment in our history and for the young people we support.
What Will Happen?
This weekend, our young attendees will sleep at a hotel in Cambridge and attend the program at our office. Our young participants will not only experience the FUN that we always bring to all of our residential Campferences, they will also focus on all things music – from engaging in community building group jam-sessions to one-on-one sessions with Kimberly, our music therapist.
EVEN BETTER, our Studio Campference attendees will also work as a group with Kimberly to create a critically important advocacy video that will raise much needed awareness around the challenging issues that chronically ill young people face. With Kimberly, these young adults will create an advocacy video using music, spoken word as well as visual art. They will work as a team and have their voices heard!!!
