When things get tough
And my brain is thinking about all the negative that’s happened
And I start beating myself up for not being proactive
It’s like “NO – WAIT! That’s OLD NEWS…”
I have to stop myself – and remind myself
” That’s not today’s story”
Today’s headline is
“You gotta move on – You gotta move forward”
Ok… so what do I do now…? Let go of The Old News and move on?
I think about the PROGRESS I’ve created
I acknowledge something as simple as
“That was a really productive day –
I got three things done today that I didn’t have done yesterday…”
It’s the little moves that add up momentum in moving forward
And when I get to see progress
It’s like my mom always says
“Talk to yourself like you’re talking to a friend
What you talk negatively to your friend?
NO.
You would be kind to your friend,
So be your own friend – be kind to yourself.”
So for me it’s about this mindset
I have to turn my mind towards what I want to focus on to do this
I rely on personal and family values – EFFORT
I’ve learned for myself that most times
I just need to apply a little more effort to persevere
To see something more clearly and to know when something is old news.
I tell myself “little moves + momentum + being kind to myself = progress”
