Apply to the 2021 Fall STRIVE Semester

Next Step STRIVE is a FREE weekly after-school mentorship program for teens living with Sickle Cell Disease in Boston, Washington, D.C. and New York City. As a STRIVE student, you’ll get one-on-one academic support and access to a community of peers in a safe and welcoming virtual environment. Sound cool? Sign up below and join us!

Here’s what you can do at STRIVE each week:

1. Get Homework Help When You Need It
Maybe you’re stuck on a class assignment. Or maybe you’ve missed a few days of school and don’t know where to start. At STRIVE, you can get one-on-one homework help from local college students. Our tutors are available for 45-minute virtual sessions several times per week.

2. Connect and Destress with Friends Who Get It
Managing school with a chronic illness can take a toll. It’s important to make time for fun and relaxation too. When you join STRIVE, you’ll meet new friends in your area who know what it’s like to live with Sickle Cell Disease. Once a week, you’ll meet online for 90 minutes to watch a movie together, play Jack Box games or just hang out.

3. Learn, Collaborate and Give Back Together
And once a month, STRIVE students from Boston, Washington D.C. and New York City meet online for some real talk—and action! You might hear from a panel of young adults living with Sickle Cell Disease, learn tips for pain management, work together on a community service project to lift the spirits of kids in the hospital or maybe even write a song together.
