Meet Caiana, our new Community Program Coordinator

We have exciting news! Meet Caiana Luse, our new Community Program Coordinator!

Caiana is an important part of our Campference program team and helping us build a bigger and stronger community for our seriously ill young participants. We recently sat down with Caiana to learn what she is doing at Next Step and to learn more about her interests outside of work. Check out her interview!

How did you find Next Step and what about the organization appealed to you?

“I found it on LinkedIn and my ultimate goal in finding a job was to help and build community. So it felt like the right choice in my journey to join the Next Step team.”

What is your new role at Next Step?

“Community Program Coordinator.”

What excites you most about Next Step’s Campference program and what it offers to young people living with chronic illness?

“What excites me is that there’s the opportunity to build community.”

Why did you choose a nonprofit career path?

“I grew up around non-profit organizations because of my parents and the spaces always felt very open and transformational. So it only felt natural to pursue a position in the non-profit sector.”

We are really into music at Next Step. Do you have a favorite musician? Favorite concert you attended? Do you play an instrument or sing?

“It’s really hard to choose a favorite musician, but I love Lianne La Havas, favorite concert would be Solange at Afropunk BK and I play violin and am a neo-soul singer.”

Do you have a favorite hobby during your free time outside of Next Step?

“I teach sound healing and yoga with breathing and meditation.”

Welcome, Caiana! We are so happy to have you on the team!
