“Take that Next Step” is a song written by two sisters. During a Campference, Song Studio was introduced to the young adult group and when asked what they’d like to write a song about, these two sisters immediately said “Next Step and how needed these campferences are – how meaningful they are.” Through lyric discussion it became clear that the get aways provide these young adults a place to be themselves, to be free from their illness, connected to a community of peers who “just get it” and in an environment where their parents could relax and let them be independent. This sentiment is captured by their lyric “Because we believe – There’s a place for you and me – Where there’s laughter, love and caring – And everyone is free to be – So take that Next Step – You can find your way along this road if you take that Next Step – Let these friends help carry the load – Be strong for you belong and know it’s best – When you take that Next Step.”
