Due to advances in medical research and treatment, about 90 percent of children living with chronic illness are surviving into adulthood. But as they leave their pediatric systems, the majority of this population are unprepared to face the essential challenges of growing up. Too often, they’re vulnerable to setbacks like struggling to maintain independence, depression, risky behavior and financial instability.
Thankfully, because of your continuous financial support, Next Step can connect with teens and young adults living with cancer, HIV and rare genetic disorders when they need it most.
Our virtual programming empowers these amazing young people as they learn to:
- Pull themselves out of isolation
- Manage their medical condition
- Define who they are outside of their diagnosis
- Set goals for a future they never thought possible
In the following video, I share some thoughts on the critical role YOU play in helping seriously ill young people face uniquely challenging issues as they transition to adulthood.
THANK YOU for being part of the solution through your ongoing support, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together we can continue to provide critical programming for seriously ill teens and young adults!
Sincerely,
Bill Kubicek,
