The first Next Step Campference, combining the fun and community of camp with the workshops and education of a conference, of 2025 is in the books!
19 young people with chronic illness came together for a weekend of fun and education at the Hampton Inn & Suites Watertown Boston in Watertown, MA.
The theme of the weekend was Care and Consciousness. Through activities and workshops, participants looked at how these mean different things for each individual. They explored how to navigate difficult conversations with peers, doctors, and employers.
Through an expressive arts activity, the attendees were able to share how they experienced self-care with each other.
“The most impactful moment for me was hearing stories from everyone,” Campference Attendee
There was plenty of fun and laughter throughout the weekend. The young people took part in games and community building activities to help remind them that their Next Step family is always there for them.
